We have been introducing people of all ages to the joy of swimming for 40 years and have acquired a lot of experience teaching swimming to both children and adults. In addition, we carry everything that the modern swimmer needs in our specialty shop for swimming equipment located directly across from the Wiener Stadthallenbad.
We currently offer our swimming courses in five swimming pools in Vienna. You can find a brief overview of our course program here:
Swimming is an important life skill! One cannot start swimming early enough, but group lessons are only practical for children starting at around 4 years of age. Our beginner swimming courses are aimed at children 4 or older who cannot keep afloat without the help of a swimming aid.
In our children’s swimming courses for beginners, our primary goals are:
• Getting used to the water
• Learning the correct swimming movements on the belly and back
• Jumps from the edge of the pool
• Diving and balance exercises
It is particularly important to offer children opportunities to explore as many types of movement as possible, especially at this age, so that they can build on them later in life. In our swimming courses for beginners we help children get acquainted with the element of water in a child-friendly manner with the specific goal in mind of teaching them the first swimming movements of breaststroke and backstroke.
The aim of the swimming course is to help children overcome any fear of water they may have and to teach them the skills they will need to move in deep water. We motivate children in the course to dive, jump and experience the water with all their senses. We take the little ones by the hand so that they have the basics they need to become confident swimmers in the water. As an additional motivation, an Austrian swimming badge can also be acquired in this children’s swimming course.
The beginner swimming courses for children take place all year round in the Wiener Stadthallenbad, in the swimming pool of the Federal Institute for the Blind, in the Hütteldorfer Swimming Pool, in the Döblinger Swimming Pool and in the Stadt des Kindes private swimming pool. In addition, we offer additional intensive swimming courses during the holidays.
NEW For a small rental fee, your child will be provided with a stylish wetsuit in the appropriate size for the duration of the swimming course. Valid while stocks last!
In our swimming courses, children who can already swim at least a few meters freely but cannot yet swim longer than five minutes without taking a break are considered “slightly advanced”.
This swimming course builds upon the basics learned in the beginners’ swimming course in order to reinforce what the children have already learned and to help them develop more confidence in the water.
The goal is for the children to be able to swim freely and safely over longer distances. In the slightly advanced swimming courses we not only improve the breaststroke and backstroke swimming techniques of the participating children, but also introduce the children to the basics of the other swimming styles in order to lay the foundations for their further swimming development. The exam for the “Freischwimmer” swimming badge can also be taken in this children’s swimming course.
