Employee Portrait No. 1 – José the Ice Swimmer
All of our employees are special. And some of them have pretty unusual hobbies that they are good at!
For this reason we have decided that, over the coming weeks and months, we will place one of our employees from the swimming shop team in the spotlight every now and them. So let’s raise the curtain for employee portrait No. 1!
José – In the Steiner Swimming Shop and School since 2016
José works for us both as a swimming instructor and in the specialty swimming shop and is one of our long-term employees with lots of experience.
Some time ago the native Frenchman discovered his passion for ice swimming. Since then he eagerly looks forward to the falling temperatures as soon as winter approaches, much to the bewilderment of everyone else in the Steiner team.
As soon as a cold spell is announced in the news, José packs his sports bag after work and looks for the next icy challenge.
Here you can see José in the Natural Ice Palace at Hintertux Glacier, 3,200 m above sea level. He is swimming in an approximately 80 meter long ice basin, which has a maximum depth of 30 meters. In order to voluntarily swim in water with a temperature of 0 °C in a location with less oxygen due to the high altitude, you have to be very tough!
Would you like to get to know José personally or do you have questions about ice swimming?
Then ask us about his working hours in the Steiner Swimming Shop or leave a comment here.
One more thing: As you can see, José also uses the parkas of our own brand, Sswims, and is really enthusiastic about them. We currently have them on offer!
