Employee Portrait No. 2 – Rosa the Powerlifter
Every company thrives or not based on the quality of its employees and we are particularly proud of our team! This is why we are bringing out each of our team members from behind the curtain at regular intervals and putting them in the spotlight.
It is now time for our second employee portrait, the first of 2020!
Rosamaria – with the Steiner team since 2015
Born in Italy, Rosamaria took part in numerous swimming competitions at a young age.
At the age of 11 she successfully completed her first 5 km race in open water, followed by a 10 km race at the age of 15. At the age of 16, she was the youngest person in the world to successfully compete in an open water competition with a distance of over 25 km.
At the age of 18, Rosa completed her swimming coach training in Italy and moved to Vienna a year later to study nutritional sciences. At the same time, Rosa joined the Steiner swimming team. She continues to teach our children’s and adult swimming courses.
Strongest junior powerlifter of 2019
However, in addition to her job as a swim teacher, Rosamaria, who is 155cm tall, has a very special “hobby”:
As soon as the last swimming student has left the Wiener Stadthalle, Rosamaria heads to the gym to train raw powerlifting for three hours four times a week! She has won the Italian championships umpteen times and is the strongest junior powerlifter in Austria since 2019!
She has set numerous records:
- 83 kg bench press, open class (Italian record),
- 110 kg squat, junior record (Austria),
- 82.5 kg bench press, junior record (Austria),
- 137.5 kg deadlift, junior record (Austria),
and many more
She has set all of these records in the “up to 52kg” weight class, which means that she always follows such a strict diet before the competitions that we have to shake our heads in disbelief.
By the way, in 2020 Rosamaria would like to compete nationally and internationally and set Austrian records for bench press. We are absolutely convinced that our power woman will have a successful powerlifting career and we feel very fortunate to have her on the Steiner Swimming School team.
If you would like to get to know Rosa personally, then book a swimming course with us!
